Bimetallism -

metallic monetary system built on the basi s of two precious metals: silver and gold. Based on the establish ed relationship of silver to gold. Both ore equally involved in t he circulation of money. However, if the ratio of gold and silver market was different from the statutory relationship of gold and silver coins, the money relatively expensive ( better ) was tezauryzowany (save, delayed), and the circulation of money remains relatively cheaper ( worse ). Bimetallism appeared in Europe in the second half of the thirteenth century with the introduction of the golden florin of Florence (1252) and a gold ducat of Venice (1284).
